Aloe Vera facial serum is it worth all the hype? or is it as good as they say it is?
Aloe Vera facial serum is just about as good it gets. Full of antioxidants and minerals. As well as having many good ingredients it is extremely beneficial to the skin.
It's Packed Full Of Vitamins And Minerals.
When I say its packed full of vitamins I mean it. Aloe Vera contains around 10 different vitamins and minerals.
Vitamin B-12- which helps to make DNA and maintains blood and nerve cells.
Choline - transmits nerve impulses in the body acting as neurotransmitters which are what helps electrical messages reach the brain efficiently.
Vitamin A - which is known for reducing the risk of acne, speeds up the healing process of scars left by spots, it promotes natural moisturising,
Vitamin C - known for repairing skin cells making the skin look brighter and smoother and also heals scars, increases the production of collagen which tightens the face, making your complexion appear younger.
Vitamin E -it is an antioxidant, which is effective when free radicals from the surrounding area and toxins which may ruin the skin.
As well as, vitamins there are also many beneficial enzymes to the skin. Here is just one example;
Bradykinase - this helps to reduce excessive inflammation on the skin so it de-puffs it basically.
Other enzymes help to break down excess fats and sugars contained within your skin leaving it in a healthier condition.
Minerals in Aloe Vera include; calcium which as you probably know is great for growth in this case especially skin cells, chromium and magnesium.
Collectively, these enzyme systems carry out the different metabolic pathways for the proper functioning of cells.
Summary: Lots of vitamins and minerals means the skin is constantly being renewed due to cell growth and maintenance meaning skin always looks healthy.
The Cooling Factor.
Think of sweating when you sweat its a sign of your body being too hot so, it releases the sweat to help you cool down.
It does when the sweat on the surface of the skin evaporates from the heat causing a sort of cooling effect to happen. Which brings down your temperature.
Well the same sort of thing happens when you apply Aloe vera Serum on to;
- Prickly heat
Because of Aloe Vera being made up of 99% water, the same sort of effect happens. However, it is more specific when cooling an area of the body like the burns as opposed to sweating.
It even speeds up the healing process by 9 days in some cases.
Summary: Due to a high content of water in aloe vera it can let the air cool on particular parts of the skin that are not usually hot. Therefore, it cools the skin.
It's A Moisturiser.
When applied to skin aloe vera tends to create a film-like texture.
Which forms on the top layer of the skin, called the epidermis.
This is because of the aloe vera's complex carbohydrates combined with the high water content creates lock-in moisture effect which forms the glue-like film you feel.
As a moisturiser, it soothes and softens the skin. This is due to the sugar it contains called mucopoly saccharides, which are known for helping retain moisture in the face.
Aloe Vera is best seen to increase the water content, in the face almost acting, as an artificial version of Hyaluronic acid. Making it perfect if you have a dry skin type.
However, it also is suitable for people with;
- greasy skin
- oily skin
- sensitive skin.
Because of Aloe Vera not clogging pores, it reduces the number of oils building up in the dermis of the skin which usually is the cause of acne and so it also helps to clear the skin.
Be careful with aloe vera though as applying too much of it can lead to the opposite effect of moisturising and it will dry out your skin instead.
Summary: Aloe vera contains sugars in which help to lock in moisture in the face making it great for smooth and soft skin.
The Aloe vera plant itself originates in deserts.
Because of this, the plant has adapted to the harsh heat by being able to retain large amounts of water in the leaves.
With its high water content, Aloe vera is probably one of the best hydration products, when it comes to skin.
Due to the plant being used to extreme amounts of dry heat it can help the skin retain its moisture further hydrating it this is because the aloe vera stops the moisture/ water content from being evaporated by heat.
It also balances out the oil production by stopping the oil from being overproduced due to dry skin.
I mean you might as well call oe vera the jewel of the desert because of the miracles it performs on the skin.
Summary: The leaves of an aloe vera plant have the ability to retain lots of water, which then hydrates the skin.
It's An Anti-Bacterial.
Aloe Vera contains polyphenols which are antioxidant compounds which help to inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria and free radicals which can potentially ruin the skin or cause breakouts and even worse, these free radicals are what cause most of the infection on the human body.
Not just an antibacterial aloe vera is also renowned for being an anti-inflammatory meaning its great for swells and injuries or even just to slightly make the skin look younger.
Summary: It has antioxidant compounds which stop infections from coming about.
It Has Healing Properties.
It has two main hormones, which help to stimulate the growth of new cells making the skin constantly clean, and bright. These 2 hormones, as well as anti-bacterial properties, help the skin to;
- keep clear of acne
- reduce redness
- and stop any infections.
- stimulates collagen production- makes the skin more elasticated which reduces wrinkles and lines.
- diminishes physical damage such as pregnancies which came with stretch marks from weight gain.
Summary: It has two hormones which help the skin to keep clear and healthy.
Stimulates Collagen Production.
Anti-ageing a thing that starts to become a fantasy or a distant wish as you get older but aren't you just sick of constantly purchasing the newest moisturiser with anti-wrinkling properties, which are most definitely overpriced and rarely work.
This is why aloe vera is perfect.
Firstly, it contains molecules called fibroblasts, which stimulate the production of collagen.
Which to sum up collagen is the stuff that makes your skin more elastic by tightening it giving you that youthful glow as well as acts as the protein support in your skin, it is contained in the dermis of the skin.
The fibroblasts allow new cells to be produced 8 times faster than normal production which means your skin will feel brand new.
The use of aloe vera for anti-ageing is particularly important because as you get older the production of collagen naturally within your skin begins to deteriorate.
Which means the skin starts to lose its elasticity resulting in bags and wrinkles.
Which is why it is so important to start using aloe vera now especially in the form of serum as it is more effective in terms of being able to get into the skin and due to being a high concentration of aloe vera.
Results are seen to be faster when the aloe vera is in form of a serum.
Start getting rid of those wrinkles now, it's not too late.
Summary: Aloe vera contains molecules which stimulate collagen which tightens skin making it appear more youthful, giving aloe vera an anti-ageing effect.
Helps With Hyper pigmentation.
Hyper pigmentation is caused by an increase in Melanin.
Melanin, to sum up, is a natural pigment within our skin that controls how light or dark the skin is.
The more melanin the darker the skin is the less melanin the lighter the skin is.
Hyper pigmentation, on the other hand, is where certain patches usually shaped like round spots show up darker or lighter compared to the rest of your skin tone.
This can be seen in the form of age spots or liver spots and are usually caused by;
- Long amounts of sun exposure,
- Hormone imbalances,
- Even age.
Is this fixable you may ask?
Yes, Aloe vera contains aloin and aloesin.
Aloin breaks up the melanin taking away any discolouration caused by hyperpigmentation. It is a natural pigmentation compound which lightens the skin.
Aloesin prevents the formation of melanin by engulfing the enzyme responsible for the production of melanin.
Summary: Melanin is responsible for the darkening patches of skin. Aloe vera contains aloin and aloesin chemical compound which inhibits the production of melanin and breaks it up.
Added To A Serum It's Great For Your Beauty Routine.
Firstly, it sets into your pores which means that it creates an even layer of skin.
Which acts as a primer as it allows make-up to sit on the face as opposed to seeping into pores, which causes oils to build-up making the face more likely to produce acne.
It works perfectly, as a primer. Due to the slightly adhesive texture of the aloe vera serum, it allows the makeup to stick to the base of it, allowing the makeup to last throughout the day.
It is best in a serum formula because of it being not as drying to the skin and it absorbs into the skin more effectively.
It also comes with a pipette which means it is easier to measure out the perfect amount of serum to apply onto the skin.
Unlike gel or moisturisers, the serum does not make the skin feel as dry.
Summary: In serum form it moisturisers the skin more as it can be absorbed more efficiently, plus works as a primer so it cuts down costs when it comes to buying your skincare products.
Aloe Vera has many benefits as you can tell from reading this. Not only are they all major ingredients but they also have a beneficial purpose, like making the skin seem youthful and getting rid of scars as well as acne.
It is suggested that if you are going to use aloe vera that it is best to get a serum formula as it is more effective, once applied to the skin. this is because it makes the skin more absorbent to water and other beneficial vitamins which helps the skin.
Reasons why you shouldn't just by the gel, moisturiser, or lotion.
- The gel is not as effective when trying to hydrate and moisturise the skin.
- None of these forms of aloe vera has a high enough concentration of aloe vera for optimum results.
- The moisturiser and gel or lotion do not normally come with a pipette which helps to waste as little of the product as possible as the pipette helps to use a suitable amount on the face.
- Results are seen quicker when using the in serum form.
- The serum is thinner, therefore it does not leave the skin feeling tacky, which would make the face a difficult base to apply to make up to as well as this because it is thinner it can more efficiently enter the skin.
